Wireless Routers Can Set You Free

Owning a wireless router can really set you free in the amount of freedom it gives you to access the internet in any location around your house. This has massive advantages for the whole family, and the feeling of not being tied down by a bundle of wires and cables is truly liberating.

Possibly a wireless router has the most uses for those who work a lot from home. This might be someone who makes their living from working online, someone who tends to bring their work home with them, or even a student who has essays and cramming to do. A wireless router installed in the home then allows that person to move from the office and to work elsewhere in the house if they have a laptop. This means that they can then work in the garden to get some fresh air while they get their work done which eliminates the feeling of being ‘cooped up’ in the office and is actually much healthier. Alternatively it also means that family members can work in the lounge or at the table, which means they can type while enjoying their favourite programme or just the company of their family or housemates. This makes the whole process far more sociable and takes away from the feeling of isolation that comes with being the only one who needs to work.

Work isn’t the only thing that benefits from a wireless router however and it also allows you to connect to the internet in other places for a variety of other reasons. If you’re a parent then you’re probably very familiar with kids and teenagers locking themselves away to chat to boyfriends and girlfriends on MSN all night, well with a wireless router there’s no reason that they can’t at least be doing this from the living room or kitchen where you may be able to get the occasional grunt out of them. A laptop that’s connected to the internet can also be used for various forms of media entertainment however. For example having a wireless router means that your laptop can serve as a radio that receives every station you can name which can provide great company while you work. With the new ‘Spotify’ being such a hit you can alternatively use it as a juke box and listen to almost any song you like on demand – but it again requires an internet connection. It can even act as a portable TV if you have the right software.

Furthermore, having wireless internet in your home means that there’s no limit as to how many devices can use the connection at once. This makes it far easier if you have a very connected family, or if friends come to stay who want to check their e-mail on their own machine. Furthermore however it also means that more and more of your other gadgets and gizmos can utilise the connection and you can get super-fast browsing on your phone or PDA. This way if you need to quickly settle a debate you can look up anything you need on Wikipedia without having to boot up the computer. It’s great for scrabble. Even handheld gaming devices can make use of an internet connection.
