Question by Thomas: Why did I manage to get Spotify without an invitation (pre Spotify Open)?
A few months ago, after hearing Spotify being talked about for a while, I decided to have a crack at downloading the Spotify player. I did this, to be honest, not knowing much about the service. Now, this was a long time before the new Spotify open plan was released, but I successfully registered an account and started listening to music without any form of invitation code. Since finding out a little more about Spotify, and hearing my friends moan about not being able to get invites, I’ve been a little curious: does Spotify have a limited number of invitation free downloads available, and I got lucky, or am I some kind of aberration? Should I, in other words, have been able to do this?

You probably signed up before mid January when it was still possible to open a Spotify account without an invite. Now Spotify has unabled this and the only way to get access is by invite or by paying £10/month. I’ve got a Premium account myself so get two invites a month. After giving the invites away for a while I’ve decided to give eBay a go to get some of the money I invest back.
So my first ever eBay invite can be found here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290442887443&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:GB:1123#ht_500wt_1154
I’m hoping just to get a few quid back per invite so really cheap if you still have friends looking for one. If eBay works I might put the others on there as well.
Hope this helps and enjoy Spotify ![]()
