Question by allow me: spotify on usb stick which i can access at work (where running apps have been blocked)…?
so yeh i wanted to have spotifty on my usb stick so i can load it at work, and i found the .EXE file on the internet so that it can load without having to be installed, but once you open it, i get a message saying that “I do not have permission” to run programs etc. from the administrative settings on the PC. does anyone know how i can still boot spotify or other programs from my usb without it getting blocked by the server?? thanks in advance

I’m sorry, but Windows has a feature that allows the Admin to prevent either specific programs from running, or only ALLOWING specific programs to run.
It’s a great safety measure against viruses, and it really ensures that you, the employee, aren’t doing things that you’re not allowed to. There are ways around it, but they’re rather work intensive, and no guarantee that they’ll work on your computer. You’re better off just finding an alternative that can be run from within a browser.
There are online music places, such as last.fm, that allows you to stream music from a browser. No extra software needed.
If that particular site was blocked, you can use online proxies to get to it. They’re slower than full browsing, but they work wonders.

Luckily your company has been sensible enough to stop you running anything that has not been vetted by the company on your PC.
It’s not the server. The administrator has set up your PC so that you can’t run executables and infect the whole network with viruses.
